Remakes of films are usually a let down, but the upcoming remake of Stephen King’s “Pet Sematary” looks like a very promisingly scary film judging by the latest trailer.
If you’ve not read the book or seen the original film, “Pet Sematary” revolves around the story of doctor Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) and his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) moving up to Maine with their two kids. Unsuspectingly they move into a house that happens to have a creepy burial ground just behind the house.
When he and his family are struck by a sudden tragedy, Dr. Creed turns to his neighborhood weirdo Jud Crandall (portrayed by John Lithgow), who helps set into motion the chain of terrifying events.
If you’re unfamiliar with the story or you love being scared, then this film will be a must-see as it’s a new retelling that looks genuinely horrifying.
The new film will be directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer. Both have previous collaborated together on “Starry Eyes”. It also has Jeff Buhler handling the screenplay. Buhler previously has worked on the screenplay for the slasher film “The Midnight Meat Train”, which stared Vinnie Jones in one of his most iconic roles.
And fans can’t contain their excitement, many taking to social media to express it.
One person wrote: “I tried to watch the first film. Never saw it all way through… This looks good. But bloody creepy.”
“So excited to see this ! There is no one like Stephen King. #PETSEMATARY” Another said.
The movie is the latest Stephen King novel to get itself a brand-new adaption, following the huge success of “It”, which was a massive box office hit when it was released the previous fall.
Another of King’s character creations, Pennywise, is also due to get a sequel released in theatres sometime next year.
“Pet Sematary” is set for an April 2019 release in cinemas, so it looks like it’ll be kicking off a good year for horror film fans.
