Did you have an opportunity to see the Golden Globe awards this year? They had their share of upsets, surprises, and humor. It seems that there was one thing missing from the Golden Globes this year, and it was good food.
Looking out through the audience, you could see the drinks were flowing freely and there were some chocolates and treats on the tables. When you are walking the red carpet, however, you want more to nosh on during a 3-hour ceremony.
Admittedly, there is a banquet before the show and we can only imagine how delightful it is. The problem is, most of the stars were too busy having their picture taken and chatting with reporters to grab a bite to eat.
Somebody needed to step up to the plate and this year, it was the star of Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy. She decided to break all the rules to smuggle in some deliciousness.
McCarthy, who received a nomination for her part in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me’ was able to get dozens of ham and cheese sandwiches past the guards. The celebrities who were the recipients of her kindness were more than happy to indulge themselves.
Ben Falcone, her husband, took a picture of the sandwiches and shared them on Instagram. 40 came in but only 2 came out at the end of the night.
“I’ve been handing them out to everyone,” the actress said. She also promised to bring hot dogs next year.
It seems that the sandwiches went over well. Even actress Olivia Colman gave it an honorable mention during her thank you speech.
I’ll have to admit that I would love to eat a homemade sandwich from McCarthy but she took things further. She ordered snacks from Joan’s on Third, an LA restaurant.
After all she did, McCarthy went home without an award. She lost to Glenn Close but you better believe there were plenty of people talking about her sandwiches later that night.
Many celebrities went out on the town but some took a quieter route. This included Julia Roberts, who went to a fast food restaurant and gave her man a smooch.
“Congratulations to All!” Roberts wrote. “And to all a good ( burger) night.”
