Last year Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson announced they were expecting their third child, even though the singer had previously stated that she wasn’t keen to have anymore kids after Maxwell Drew and Ace Knute. But at her baby shower it was revealed that the newest member of the family would be Birdie.
Her pregnancy with Birdie wasn’t easy, and she experienced several bouts of bronchitis as well as foot swelling.
She had written on Twitter, “After a week in the hospital for bronchitis (my fourth time in 2 months), I’m finally home! Coughing with Birdie has been a crazy painful journey. I am getting healthier every day. Baby girl was monitored and is doing amazing! I am on my way to healthy!”
She also shared photos of her swollen ankles, something that any pregnant woman can probably relate to. She had to use the technique of cupping in order to combat the swelling. Her long pregnancy journey finally ended on March 19th when her and Johnson finally welcomed Birdie into the world. She shared pictures of the newest family member on social media, posting: “We are so happy and proud to announce the birth of our perfect daughter, Birdie Mae Johnson. 3.19.19. 10 Pounds 13 Ounces”
After people read that little Birdie was slightly bigger than the average baby, who normally weighs between 5 and 8 pounds, they had nothing but praise for Jessica.
One person wrote, “pure horrified that Jessica Simpson gave birth to a child the same weight as a vacuum cleaner / small microwave oven / Christmas ham / sack of potatoes i wouldn’t be ABLE.”
Another said, “Congrats to you and your fam! I delivered a 10lb Baby….couldn’t imagine delivering a baby near 11lbs….props to you!” another commended her. “I bet she is beautiful.”
While a third person wrote, ”13oz . . . You are my hero! Well done and what a beautiful name!”
Simpson has already stated that her kids are curious about pregnancy and what it involves.
“They want to know every detail — like how milk comes out of Mommy, how the baby will actually get here and if my belly button is a speaker to communicate with the baby,” Simpson said. “[We] are constantly cracking up and trying to figure out how to be honest…but not tramatize them or the friends and teachers we know they are sharing every detail with!”
She’s bound to have her hands full now that she’s got three kids. But congratulations to Jessica and Eric on their beautiful baby girl.
