You don’t need to think back all that many years to remember something that was quite unusual on television. Perhaps you have your own favorite quirky show but many of us remember Toddlers in Tiaras. It was a behind-the-scenes look at child beauty pageants and it showed all of the drama that was taking place among the families. One of the families were the Thompson’s but perhaps you remember Honey Boo-Boo more than anyone else.
Honey Boo-Boo, whose actual name is Alayna Thompson was only six years old at the time. She shot her way to extreme stardom because of her confidence and sassy style and she even she started her own show, Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo.
The family continued in her footsteps, with Mama June, her mother, having her own reality television show. It was called, Mama June: from Hot to Not and it did gain some popularity.
Alina has now reentered the spotlight and many people are surprised to see the changes.
It’s a new show, Dancing With The Stars: Juniors and Alina is now a teenager. She is seen with her dance partner, Tristan Ianiero and has the hopes of claiming the crown.
The 13-year-old recently gave an interview to Good Housekeeping and she said that DWTS Juniors is one of the hardest things that she had to do in her TV career.
“It was a little hard to get down the steps, and get the numbers and the counts down,” she said. “It took me a whole entire day to learn the counts because it was so hard. [At first,] I didn’t get that you had to count to the music.”
She also said that it got harder when her training progressed.
“It didn’t get any easier, it actually got a lot harder,” she said.
She managed to work her way through the difficulties and make it through the first rounds of the live show. She also managed to get some positive criticism as well.
“Honey Boo Boo who? I’m talking about Alana right now, a beautiful young lady out there,” said Mandy Moore, one of the judges on the panel.
Her mentor, Artem Chigvintsev felt relieved that she was able to make it past the first round. “I feel like a proud parent, but most of all I feel really nauseous, I’m so glad it’s over,” he joked.
Honey Boo-Boo also feels as if she gained a new friend from her dance partner.
“I didn’t think our chemistry was going to be super amazing, but then we actually started dancing and practising, and our chemistry was amazing,” she said. “We’re now best friends.”
It seems as if she is off to a good start in her latest venture back into the spotlight. She is feeling excited and positive about where she is in life. Underneath it all, however, we still see that sassy little girl that we saw when she was a youngster. Perhaps that is what makes her most appealing.
