Great Dane Chews Off Own Leg To Escape Starvation

Noah’s Arks Rescue is a non-profit group that works in animal rescue. They assist South Carolina animals that find themselves in need of assistance. They found a Great Dane that experienced the sort of abuse that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Now, they are doing everything in their power to help out. Lucifer was able to escape hell and now he will receive a second chance.

This dog was forced to gnaw off his own leg in order to escape the horrors that he was experiencing. The dog was not being fed when he was first found and is said to have been emaciated beyond belief. The people who lived at the home claimed that they were doing the best they could to take care of him themselves. They could not afford proper medical care.

Once an officer arrived on the scene, it was clear that something needed to be done as soon as possible. Jessica is the dog’s “mother” and she offered a tall tale about the dog losing his leg because it was caught inside of a runner cable. However, the man who resided at this home told a different story that cast aspersions on the one Jessica provided.

The officers decided that there was probable cause and charged the two with animal cruelty for the role that they had played in the animal’s injuries. They were both released after posting $5,000 bond. At this time, the police brought the animal to the good folks at Noah’s Arks Rescue. The Great Dane is now named Luke and they are doing everything they can for him.

The wounded leg requires amputation and he also has life-threatening infections. He is also experiencing severe complications that make surgery more challenging. The rescue group says that they have yet to see a case this bad. They are also under the belief that Luke may have been poisoned by his past owners.

Luke is still very much in danger. The rescuers believe that it is a miracle for him to even be alive at this point in time. He should have passed away a long time ago and his resilience is incredible. If you would like to provide a donation and help Luke during his recovery, be sure to contact Noah’s Arks Rescue today so that you can find out more.
