Alex Trebek has been a fixture of Jeopardy! for the past few decades, and for so many fans of the show, there can be no Jeopardy! without him. So when the beloved game show host announced his recent diagnosis, many fans have become invested in his cancer journey.
Trebek first announced his diagnosis nearly three months ago, but the latest news surrounding his treatment sounds very promising. In a recent cover story in People magazine, Trebek shared the good news that his tumors have been shrinking by more than 50%, meaning he’ll hopefully be going into remission!
Stage 4 pancreatic cancer – with which he’d been diagnosed – has a low survival rate. But so far, Trebek has been responding well to his chemotherapy. Both he, and his team of doctors are overjoyed at his progress, but also hopefully optimistic about his future and course of treatment.
But Trebek holds a belief about there being another component responsible for his improving health:
“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers. I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.”
In addition to friends and family, Trebek has had an outpouring of support from fans and other cancer survivors around the world who’ve shared with him their personal stories and encouragement. It seems to be helping.
Trebek will be continuing the chemo treatments and as his doctors have shared, is close to remission. You can learn more from the video posted below:
We wish Trebek all the best in his continued journey of recovery? What do you think of the news? Can you relate?
