Adam Lambert may have gotten his start as a runner-up on American Idol but he has certainly transcended this status now. Whether you first got to know him on Idol or you are more familiar with his subsequent hits, it is safe that he has carved out quite the career for himself. There are a number of people out there who probably can’t tell you who beat him out for first place.
After making headlines by collaborating with the one and only Queen, he is now making additional headlines by stealing the heart of a totally different queen…..Cher! The 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors were the setting for this awesome video. You will definitely want to watch it a few times, we are more than certain of this. You may want to have your Kleenex ready, too.
The pop goddess was moved to tears when Lambert offered a stirring performance of her smash hit single “Believe”. By the time Adam was done, there was not a dry eye to be found. Can you blame them? We are having a tough enough time keeping our composure at home. Just imagine what it would be like to be there in person. His spin on this Cher classic was absolutely incredible.
As hard as it may be to believe now (especially since we live in a world where Autotune seems to be inescapable), “Believe” was thought to be out of the ordinary at the time. When it was first released, there was nothing quite like it on the airwaves. Cher has never been overshadowed by anyone, not even someone as talented as Adam Lambert.
That’s what makes this video so special. As someone who has been in the entertainment industry for half a century, Cher has seen any number of icons come and go. For her to be this visibly moved by a performance, you know that it must be special. This is one of the most touching tributes that we have ever had the privilege of witnessing.
Adam’s version of the song is not a total remake, either. To find out more about his take on “Believe”, please be sure to check out the video below. This is one of the best covers that we have ever seen and it is time for your friends and loved ones to see it for themselves as well. Don’t be shy about passing this one along!
